At MDDI, he focuses on strengthening Singapore’s cybersecurity ecosystem and ensuring the nation’s digital infrastructure remains resilient and future-ready. He led the development of the Digital Economy Blueprint to drive business transformation in the age of Artificial Intelligence and expand job opportunities for Singaporeans. At MOH, he champions the use of technology, including AI and automation, to support the healthcare workforce, improve efficiency, and enhance healthcare outcomes, while also leading efforts to strengthen community outreach to seniors.
With close to 20 years of experience in technology leadership in the public service prior to entering politics, Mr Tan has held key appointments across government, including Chief Executive of the Infocomm and Media Development Authority and leadership roles in the Prime Minister’s Office and various ministries. He played a pivotal role in shaping Singapore’s national cybersecurity masterplan, advancing the digital economy, rolling out nationwide digital infrastructure, and driving initiatives such as the SG Digital Ambassadors Programme. A computer engineer by training, Mr Tan graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and holds a Master’s degree from Stanford University. He is married with two children and enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family and rescued dogs.
